Lisa Moses is an Artist and Art Director whose work lives at the intersection of art, spatial storytelling, and consciousness.

Lisa Moses is an Artist and Art Director known for her paintings, installations, branded environments, and creative direction. Her unique multidisciplinary career has flourished at the intersections of biomimicry and art, spatial design and consciousness, creative works and lived experience. Her practice originates from a vision to foster connection and transform how we engage with the world.
Nature and the environment have long been central concerns for Moses. She earned her Master of Interior Architecture (Adaptive Reuse) from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2006, a Collegiate Teaching Diploma from Brown University in 2005, and her BFA in Sculpture from Pennsylvania State University in 2001. Rooted in biomimicry, meditation, and sensory design, her process is both intuitive and rigorous, combining the presence of an artist with the systems-thinking of a designer. Each project is approached as a living artwork that invites deeper relationships with oneself, with others, and with the natural world.
She has gone on to a remarkable career spanning both art and design, remaining committed to works that study the natural world to address and solve complex human and environmental challenges. She integrates diverse methodologies and scientific insights to create works that transcend dimensional and disciplinary boundaries, fostering deep, connective engagement. Her investigations inform drawings, paintings, and built works that transform spaces into interactive ecosystems. By inviting active public participation, these works strengthen connection to the environment and empower individuals to reimagine their relationship with the living world.
Moses aspires to collaborate with botanists, synthetic biologists, and nanotechnologists to create energy-producing regenerative ecosystems that merge art, technology, and environmental science. Employing biopolymers, adaptive materials, and living systems, she envisions works that not only reflect the wisdom of nature but actively contribute to ecological regeneration and public awareness. Through this approach, she aims to address pressing issues of sustainability, health, and community empowerment, challenging conventional boundaries between art, design, and science while fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and innovation.
At the core of her practice is the belief that art and design are deeply interconnected with history, theory, and technology. Through her work, she strives to create holistic experiences that elevate the role of creativity in addressing global challenges. By cultivating cross-disciplinary conversations, she seeks to empower individuals and communities, demonstrating how the wisdom of the living world can inspire sustainable and equitable futures.
Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions at museums and galleries nationwide, as well as in The New York Times, Interior Design Magazine, Artforum, and The Boston Globe. She has received honors including a National Endowment for the Arts Grant, the ASID Crystal Award (First Place), the IIDA International Sustainable Design Competition (First Place), and the Bessie Award for Performance, Installation, and New Media.
An educator since 2003, Lisa has taught at institutions including the Rhode Island School of Design, Naropa University, and the University of Colorado. She continues to mentor artists and entrepreneurs through critiques and visioning sessions that honor authenticity, ecology, and creative possibility.
Beyond the studio, she is an athlete and passionate outdoorswoman. Running, cycling, and exploring wild landscapes are woven into her creative practice, with embodied movement through nature fueling her work. She cultivates an ecology of interconnected disciplines that balance, reinforce, and support one another. This integration forms the foundation of every project, extending an invitation to experience what it means to be fully alive.
